Distribution and Habitat
The Black-headed Green Woodpecker is distributed in the Indochina Peninsula and the southeastern coastal areas of China, including Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, as well as the southeastern coastal areas of China, Hong Kong, and Hainan Island.
Appearance
It has a large head but a relatively long neck; a strong, straight, chisel-shaped beak; a long, retractable tongue with short hooks at the tip; relatively short legs with three or four toes; and a flat or wedge-shaped tail with stiff, flexible feathers that support the body when pecking.
