Detailed introduction
The saw-beaked hummingbird, scientifically known as *Ramphodon naevius*, is a species of the genus *Ramphodon* within the subfamily Cryptohumniinae of the family Hummingbirds. It gets its name from the small serrations on its beak.

Historically, extensive deforestation for mining and landscaping threatened the lowland forests on which the saw-beaked hummingbird depended for survival. Today, the main threats are urbanization, industrialization, agricultural expansion, colonization, and the construction of related roads.
