Distribution and Habitat
They are mainly distributed in Central and South America, from south of Panama and Costa Rica to eastern Peru, northeastern Venezuela, and Trinidad.
The Green Hummingbird inhabits the lower forest floor, usually near water, and prefers hilly areas.
Appearance
It is a relatively large hummingbird. It measures 13.5 cm in length and weighs 6.3 grams. It has a long, slightly reddish bill that curves downwards. The male Green Hummingbird is predominantly dark green with a bluish-green tail. Its eyes are black with pale yellow stripes extending down to the middle of its throat. The central white feathers of its tapering tail are long and used for display during courtship. The female is duller in color, with a dark gray lower body, and also has a long bill and tail. The western Green Hummingbird has a slightly smaller crest, and the sexes are quite similar.
Detailed introduction
The Green Hermit Hummingbird, scientifically known as *Phaethornis guy*, feeds primarily on nectar from various flowers, but also consumes small insects. It lays one egg at a time, building its cone-shaped nest under a large leaf, usually above the water's surface. The incubation period is 17-18 days, and the chick emerges feathered and flies out of the nest after another 21-23 days.

Protect wild animals and ban the consumption of wild game.
