Detailed introduction
The Andean flicker, scientifically known as *Colaptes rupicola*, is a large woodpecker native to the Andes Mountains of North America. Unlike most other woodpeckers, it is typically found on the ground. Flickers feed on ants, other insects, and occasionally fruits and seeds. They usually build their own nests or occupy other woodpeckers' nests, with both parents sharing the responsibility of incubating the eggs and raising the chicks.

Listed in the IUCN Red List of Birds, version 3.1, 2009.
