Distribution and Habitat
Distributed throughout south-central Africa, including the southern Arabian Peninsula and the entire African continent south of the Sahara Desert (Tropic of Cancer). In my country, it is found only in southwestern, central, and southern Yunnan. The Green-throated Bee-eater is a resident bird, primarily inhabiting open areas such as forest edges, sparse forests, bamboo groves, and grassy slopes. It is also found in town parks and orchards, usually alone or in small groups. It mostly hunts in flight. When resting, it often perches on tree branches and telephone wires. Its range extends from plains and low mountains to mid-mountain areas around 2000 meters.
