Detailed introduction
The Red Round-tailed Shepherd, scientifically known as *Pterodroma magentae*, also called Magenta Petrel or Chatham Island Taiko, has unknown habits.

Outside of the breeding season, the Red-tailed Shearling drifts at sea, feeding on squid, small fish, and mollusks. It only returns to shore during the breeding season. Each clutch contains one (rarely two) eggs, laid on the ground or in depressions and crevices. Both parents care for the chick together, leaving about a week before the chick has fully developed its feathers. The chick relies on stored fat for development.
Listed as Critically Endangered (CR) in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (ver 3.1: 2009).
