Distribution and Habitat
They are distributed across islands in the Pacific Ocean, including Taiwan Province of China, the Dongsha Islands, Xisha Islands, Zhongsha Islands, Nansha Islands, as well as the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra and Java in Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.
Appearance
A small (28 cm) green fruit pigeon. Its distinguishing features include a purple head, a pale purple chin, and a grey band on the breast. The lower breast is greyish-green, the belly is creamy white, the undertail coverts are pale grey, the upperparts are pale golden, and the flight feathers are gold, grey, and blue.

The purple-capped fruit dove, scientifically known as *Ptilinopus porphyraceus*, is also called Purple-capped Fruit-dove, Crimson-crowned Fruit-dove, or Crimson-crowned Fruit Dove. Its specific habits are unknown. It feeds on fruits, seeds, and insects.
