Detailed introduction
The Pennant-winged Nightjar, scientifically known as Macrodipteryx vexillarius, has a pair of long flight feathers and flies like a jet aircraft.

The feathered nightjar feeds on insects, small reptiles, and fish. It gets its name from the long flight feathers on its wings. These two long feathers make it particularly beautiful when it flies.

The most distinctive feature of the Pterygmy Nightjar is its pair of flight feathers, a symbol of power within its species. Long feathers are a key attraction for females, but when males mate, they pluck out feathers – a very unique behavior. Pterygmy Nightjars are typically nocturnal, resting during the day, making their feathers easily visible. However, they possess excellent camouflage abilities. Pterygmy Nightjars often rest in trees, their feather color blending seamlessly with their surroundings, providing camouflage and helping them avoid predators.
