The White-collared Round-tailed Shepherd is distributed across Eurasia and North Africa (including the whole of Europe, Africa north of the Tropic of Cancer, the Arabian Peninsula, and Asia north of the Himalayas-Hengduan Mountains-Minshan Mountains-Qinling Mountains-Huaihe River), the Pacific Islands (including Taiwan, the Dongsha Islands, Xisha Islands, Zhongsha Islands, and Nansha Islands of China, as well as the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra and Java of Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea), Australia and New Zealand (including Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania and their surrounding islands).

Appearance

The White-collared Roundtail is 43 cm long, weighs 380–545 g, and has a wingspan of 100 cm. It is greyish-white and resembles a gull in shape. It has a unique upper beak structure, consisting of a tubular nose with a hooked tip. The nostrils are located above the beak, forming two tube-like openings.
