It is distributed in western Sichuan Province in China.

Appearance

One of the largest known bitailed worms in the world. The head and legs are yellow; the dorsal surface of the thorax and abdominal segments 1-7 is gray, the ventral surface is yellow, the dorsal surface of abdominal segments 8 and 9 is reddish-brown, and the tenth abdominal segment and cerci are dark brown. The head is trapezoidal and sparsely covered with small hairs; the antennae have 48-49 segments and no sensory hairs; the mandibles are strong and have 4 teeth. There are 1-2 small hairs on the posterior side of abdominal segments 1-7; the tenth abdominal segment is sparsely covered with small punctures and is bare. There is a large tooth on the inner half of the left caudal margin, and another large tooth in the middle of the right caudal margin.

Detailed introduction

* Atlasjapyx atlas * is an arthropod discovered in Xiangcheng County, Sichuan Province, People's Republic of China. It is the only species in the genus *Atlasjapyx * within the family Atlasjapydae of the order Diura . At the time of its discovery, it was the largest known Diurae in the world. This species belongs to the family Atlasjapydae. Its main characteristics are winglessness, eyelessness, a slender body, multi-segmented filiform antennae, and a pair of segmented cerci or an unsegmented cerci. It typically inhabits decaying leaves and branches on the soil surface, under fallen logs, in rotting tree trunks, and in rock crevices. This species is among the largest of the Diurae, averaging 47 mm in length. It was collected in Xiangcheng County, Sichuan Province in 1982.


The body of *Echinochloa spp.* is long and thick, averaging 46.99 mm in length. The widest point is generally on the second abdominal segment, averaging 6.26 mm in width. The head and legs are yellow; the dorsal surface of the thorax and abdominal segments 1-7 is gray, while the ventral surface is yellow; segments 8 and 9 are reddish-brown dorsally and yellow ventrally; and segment 10 and the cerci are dark brown. The antennae lack sensory hairs; the mandibles have four teeth; and the inner lobe of the mandibles has five lobes resembling a comb. There are three pairs of spiracles on the thorax.
